Dear MindShare Community,
Warm summer greetings to our MindShare community! ☀️
This month’s Canadian Coworker eMagazine captures the incredible momentum building across Canada’s innovation, business, education, and technology landscape. From national conversations on artificial intelligence to local celebrations that bring our city together, it is inspiring to see how ideas, partnerships, and community leadership continue to shape a stronger future for Mississauga and beyond.
We are especially proud to spotlight Canada’s AI future through our conversation with Minister Evan Solomon at Upper Bound 2026. As AI, education, entrepreneurship, and workforce innovation continue to converge, the opportunity to build a more inclusive, human-centred innovation economy has never been more important.
This edition also celebrates the energy and vibrancy of Mississauga, including the upcoming Italfest summer celebration and the excitement building around FIFA World Cup 2026 festivities at Celebration Square. These community experiences bring people together while supporting local business, tourism, and economic growth.
Across Ontario and Canada, we are also seeing major developments that reinforce our growing role as a global hub for innovation, including:
Sanofi’s $294 million investment to expand its AI Centre of Excellence in Toronto; Ontario’s additional $5 million investment to help small businesses adopt digital technologies; Canada’s return to a trade surplus driven by strong export growth; and plans for a major AI Gigafactory in the Greater Toronto Area.
At MindShare Workspace, we remain committed to helping entrepreneurs, professionals, educators, creators, and innovators connect, collaborate, and grow. Through initiatives such as Thursday Thrive, our mid-week recharge, we continue to create opportunities for meaningful conversations, fresh ideas, networking, and community building.

Provincial Parliament Richmond Hill | May 25, 2026
The Ontario government has officially broken ground on the new 400,000-square-foot Ontario Science Centre at Ontario Place, marking a key milestone for a scheduled opening in 2029. The state-of-the-art facility will feature an expanded mainland building for interactive programming, modernized exhibition pods, and an upgraded Cinesphere with double the seating of its predecessor. Construction and long-term tourism initiatives are expected to support thousands of regional jobs while integrating the facility into a broader waterfront revitalization plan featuring public trails, beaches, and a modernized marina. Transit connections via the new Ontario Line at Exhibition Station will ensure high accessibility for an estimated six million annual visitors once the permanent site is fully complete.

2. Canada Swings to Trade Surplus as Oil, Gold Exports Jump
City of Mississauga News | May 5, 2026
Canada recorded a C$1.8 billion trade surplus in March 2026, marking its first positive trade balance in six months following a C$5.1 billion deficit the prior month. The economic turnaround was primarily fueled by an 8.5 percent surge in overall exports, driven heavily by increased gold shipments to the United Kingdom and rising global crude oil prices amid geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Conversely, total imports contracted by 1.6 percent from the record high seen in February, a decline led by reduced incoming shipments of pharmaceutical and consumer goods. Despite the nominal improvement in the country's trade position, economists noted that the boost from higher commodity pricing has not yet translated into a significant increase in the actual volume of domestic economic activity.
